Dr Kruger is responsible for the planning, managing and controlling of research and development, technology development and innovation in all aspects of crop production, animal production and health and food science. Previously she worked for Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) as the Senior Research Fellow / Research Consultant responsible for overseeing the Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources Section. She held various leadership roles in organization’s including Democracy Works Foundation (DWF) where she was the Country Director – Botswana, Ministry of Presidential Affairs Governance and Public Administration where she was the Vision 2016 Coordinator, World Bank where she was the Wealth, Accounting & Valuation of Ecosystems (WAVES) Coordinator – Botswana as well as National Food Technology Research Centre (NFTRC) where she was the Managing Director. Dr Kruger is a seasoned Environmental/ Agricultural Economist and experienced researcher, with over thirty (30) years’ experience. She served as chairperson of the board of directors for Forum on Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), an apex body for facilitation and advocacy for agricultural research for development in Africa. She also served in the executive committee of the Global Forum in Agriculture (GFA) and board of a directors of the Centre for Coordination of the Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA). She currently co-chairs the Southern African Women in Animal Resources and Agribusiness Network (SAWARAN), an offshoot of the under the Live2Africa Project of the African Union-InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR). Dr. Kruger holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and Management from the University of York – United Kingdom, an MSc in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Kansas State University – USA and a BA in Economics and Statistics from the University of Botswana.
