Dr Mbatshi Mazwiduma

Dr Mazwiduma as Board Chairperson is charged with leading the NARDI Board, focusing on strategic matters regarding NARDI business and research agenda. He is responsible for ensuring good corporate governance and that NARDI obligations to the ministry of Agriculture and Government are met.

Dr. Mazwiduma is the senior veterinary surgeon and director at Vetpro Specialists. He began his professional career as a veterinary surgeon at VETMED in Francistown. He then returned to Australia for work and postgraduate study. Whilst in Australia he worked as hospital superintendent and director and veterinary surgeon at Greenhills Veterinary Hospital in Australia.

He left clinical practice and joined the pharmaceutical industry and worked for Pfizer. He returned to clinical practice and worked and as emergency clinician and thereafter as an Associate Veterinarian at Greencross Vets. He then returned home to Botswana and worked as an associate veterinarian at Vet and Agric Consultants before venturing on his own and setting up Vetpro Specialists He has extensive experience spanning more than 20 years having consulted and advised in agribusiness, business management, environmental integrated nutrient management, wildlife flora and fauna management in agriculture and mining, veterinary clinical medicine and surgery, veterinary and human pharmacology, pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, medical affairs, clinical development and operations, epidemiology, patient safety and pharmacovigilance. Dr. Mazwiduma held various leadership roles, as Deputy Chairman and member of the finance risk and audit committee of the Board of Directors of the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA), Board Member and Chairman of Finance and Audit Committee of the Veterinary Surgeons Council. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney in Australia and post graduate membership in Veterinary Pharmacology from the Australia New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (United Kindgom).
