Ms Nnosang Mhutsiwa joined the National Agricultural Research and Development Institute (NARDI) as Director of Human Resources with effect from 1 September 2023. She brings with her a wealth of experience in human resources management, performance management, and administration spanning over twenty-eight (28) years.

Prior to joining NARDI, Ms Mhutsiwa served as Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA), where she was instrumental in establishing the Human Resources and Administration Department in September 2017. In this role, she provided strategic leadership and ensured that the Authority effectively advanced its strategic agenda through the development and management of its human capital.

Before her tenure at BERA, Ms Mhutsiwa held several senior leadership positions within the Botswana Public Service. She began her career in the Ministry of Agriculture and steadily rose through the ranks to assume executive roles in the Office of the President as well as the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture. She also served in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, where she held the position of Deputy Permanent Secretary – Corporate Services.

Among the notable highlights of her Public Service career was her effective leadership in the implementation of the Levels of Operation in the Teaching Service. She further served as Secretary General of the Botswana National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Ms Mhutsiwa has also made significant contributions through service on a number of boards and councils, including the Public Service Bargaining Council on the Employer’s side, the Botswana National Productivity Centre, Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital, the Botswana National Gender Commission, and the University of Botswana Council. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Public Administration and Economics), both from the University of Botswana. She is also a certified Public-Private Partnerships Professional.
