Ms. Mariam Munamava

Ms Munamava is a profound, crop physiologist, seed scientist, strategist and organizational development expert who worked for the Botswana Government in a variety of capacities, the most recent being District Agricultural Coordinator in Ghanzi District until her retirement in 2020. She is an experienced researcher with international exposure and a strong focus towards improving farmers livelihoods.
Ms Munamava was an Associate member of the American Society of Agronomy and the International Seed Testing Association, as well as a Board member of the SADC Seed Security Network Project, the Government of Botswana’s focal point for SADC Seed Security, a member of the Botswana Bureau of Standards Technical Committee and a member of the Physical Planning Committee of the Ghanzi District Council. She initiated and successfully lead the development of a national seed policy and reviewing of the Seed Certification Act.
Ms Munamava holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom, a Master’s Degree in Agronomy Seed Science from Iowa State University in the United States of America, and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Agriculture from the Botswana College of Agriculture.
